wilco's "yankee hotel foxtrot" had been recorded before 9/11, but
released on their website. sample lyrics (some oblique, some eerily
close to the events on 9/11):

"I am an American aquarium drinker
I assassin down the avenue
I'm hiding out in the big city blinking" -- "I am trying to break your heart"

"I'm counting on
A heart I know by heart
To walk me through this war
Where memories distort" -- "Kamera"

"You have to lose
You have to learn how to die
If you want to want to be alive" -- "War on war"

"Tall buildings shake
Voices escape singing sad sad songs"

"Voices whine
Skyscrapers are scraping together" -- "Jesus, etc."

"I would like to salute
The ashes of American flags" -- "Ashes of American flags"

"And it makes no difference to me
How they cried all over overseas
When it's hot in the poor places tonight
I'm not going outside" -- "Poor Places"

The
cover of "YHF" depicts two tall buildings - albeit, not WTC, but two
hotels in Chicago (can't recall the name, starts with an M).

Also, it was Neil Young who did "Let's Roll", not Paul Simon. He released it on 2002's "Are You Passionate?"

Cindy,

Now I remember the post up so long ago! When I read your post back then
I did not read the bottom line til now. My bad! The lady corrected my
mention of Paul Simon getting credit for writing "Let's Roll", so she
was right in the fact it was Neil Young. Have you heard about either of
them in the UK?

Several lines are a scare and I'm sure none of the songs written after
September 11, 2001 were ever played on your radio stations in the UK.

cheers

Hey Cindy!

I Googled searched this new line and if anyone else does the same. Here is
what they'll find........Oops! I forgot, I can't make that link travel along thru cyber space, to here via the phone line.

Here is what you put in the Google line....................

America's first inspirational song after 9/11/01

That goes straight to my Daily Snopes archived request no one could
answer. Instead it got off topic and a few posted songs to remember
that sad day.

Comments? Questions? Or? Crickets? Pay those words no mind. I just like the way the words sound together.

MK Cody in Indiana with a Quick Reply tonight.............

Here is the request brought to page 2. For all members with interest in
a bit of music that inspired us few Americans who heard it played for
only a few days. I have been wondering, has Raymond heard it down in
Florida? Question

MK Cody in Indiana cheers

Has anyone had a go at my Google suggestion lately? Don't forget to
report back on what you think. Cindy went all the way there and she
came all the way back with her post up that I was hoping to see.

That is a good enough explanation Cindy. That snopes membership is full
of more weird members than smart members! You make a quick friend and
then they turn opposite in nature.

The owner was plumb weird with what he would bring up for topics. It's not really worth the typing to type about here.

There will be more coming here and everywhere else in due time. Take Care, & be well all days for all of your family.
